It was a quiet day when we set up our website and found there to be zero traffic. We had no idea what we were doing, but we had a product and service to sell. How do we get traffic to drive sales?

We were not the first company to launch a website and have it go nowhere and I’m sure we’ll not be the last. What we and everyone else needs is traffic to the website to get the word out about products or services. We needed a way to promote our website, so we did a search on “article marketing” and “traffic generation”. One of the least expensive and most effective ways you can promote your new business is through article marketing. You don’t have to have experience in article writing, anyone who can write a sentence can do it. Here are a few tips to get a good article done quickly.

Do a web search on the product you want to promote and do a little research. Websites like ezine articles is a good place to start. Find an article with a good title and start reading if you like what you are reading, then, spend some time and jot down a few of the key points in that article.

Now, take the title you found when you did a keyword search and create a new title. Using the points from the article, go ahead and begin writing in your own words about the product or service you want to put in your article. You know what it is that you are selling, so go ahead and be a little creative making sure to use the key words that will help when people are searching for that on the internet.

Go ahead and read two or three articles on the subject to make sure you are covering all the points that need to appear in your own article. Before you know it you will have over 300 words which you can post for free on some sites. Ezine articles takes an article over 250 words.

To maximize the benefit of article marketing, you’ll want to use a service that sends out your articles to article directories. They are articledashboard, goarticles, ezinearticles, articlesbase. The more directories you submit your article to, the more traffic will be generated to your site.

A term I learned quickly in my research was search engine optimization or SEO. The article title is really important to searches so make sure you put the correct keywords in the title and use catchy phrases so people’s eyes are drawn to it. Simple, eye catchy Titles like “3 Steps to A Better Body”, or “How to Write an eBook” work best for your online articles.

So you see, article marketing is simple and you have lots to gain, like traffic and income!
