Big Tex in Texas State Fair Crafts

I’m sure you know who Big Tex is. In Texas, where everything is much more massive than normal, Big Tex is a really big guy. You’ll literally look up to this giant, as he’s well up to 52 feet tall, as you see him waving and smiling at the people down below. He even speaks sometimes, with a big, booming voice that sounds all over the State Fair of Texas. This is where you’ll find him.

But for those of you who worry about the prospect of a giant man rampaging throughout your neighborhood, there is no need to worry. Big Tex is not alive; not in the traditional sense, at least. He?s an animatronic robot that towers over the Texas State Fair, drawing many people to come and join in the festivities.

However, Big Tex is more than just an animatronic robot. He is a cultural icon; having stood over the fair even back when Elvis Presley himself performed at the fair in the 1950’s. The state fair just wouldn’t be the same if you don’t see him or here his booming voice greeting the people (Howdy, folks!). He gives life to the fair, and in this way, you can say that Big Tex is truly alive.

So it doesn’t come as a surprise that you can see the image of Big Tex around the craft booths when you go around the craft shows around Texas. Whenever one mentions a fair, Big Tex will surely by imagined in the listener’s mind, and using him as inspiration for crafted items is a good way to remember the fair experience. Of course, it’s also undeniable, that with Big Tex in your crafts, your works will sell better.

If you want to know the current schedule for the annual State Fair of Texas, as well as other craft shows like it, then all you have to do is look for an event listing online. So go ahead, and look for that distinctive giant of a man standing guard over the biggest fair in the United States.
