Theater companies have not been spared by the economic recession that had swept across the country (and around the world) like wildfire. A lot of low-budget studios and theatres had closed down for over the past weeks with reports of bankruptcy, financial instability and lack of support from patrons and private (or public) organizations.

The last Festival (that of 2008) had ended with a slight deficit in the theater’s part. Management is planning to make serious cutbacks, financial adjustments and tightening of budget to make the 2009 festival a success, with financial stability, and hopefully a bit more profit.

Unlike last year’s festival, this year has one week off its summer season, causing the festival to close one week than expected. The season will start from June 29 and will end at August 29. A few of the plays that will be featured will be Henry V, The Comedy of Errors and As You Like It. Noel Coward’s Private Lives, Foxfire and the all time family musical The Secret Garden. Fall season has also moved from September 25 to October 24, now will be held starting September 18 up until October 17.

A lot of the plays in the roster has been moved around and changed as well. Plays like Pericles, The Woman in Black, Pump Boys and Dinettes, fall will now feature plays like Tuesdays with Morrie (a teacher-student story from a popular book), The Woman in Black and a comedy of some sorts, The Complete Works of Willian Shakespeare (Abridged).

The plays require fewer actors and man power needed to make the play a success. Yet the quality of the plays will not be affected, the management guarantees it. Patrons who had purchased tickets could call the Festival Ticket Office for refunds or ticket replacements.
